I obtained my PhD in AI from the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation, School of Informatics, under the supervision of Ewan Klein, Charles Sutton and Maria Liakata. My thesis was on Contextual citation recommendation using scientific discourse annotation schemes
I was a member of the Edinburgh team on the Amazon Alexa competition, where university teams competed to make engaging chatbots for the platform, which resulted in novel research and several publications.
During my PhD I was the recipient of an Enrichment Year Scholarship at the Alan Turing Institute in London
I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh with Beatrice Alex as PI on information extraction from radiology reports
Longevity
I am a passionate longevity advocate. I have recently joined the Longevity Biotech Fellowship and I encourage you to do so too!
Entrepreneurship
I have co-founded many startups and other projects, most notably Medwise AI, a search engine for medical doctors now used by over 1000 primary care clinicians in the UK.
Industry experience
I interned as a Software Engineer at Google twice. First in Zurich, I worked on very large scale classification of web pages.
In Mountain View my project was on federated learning as integrated into the Android platform.
As an Applied Scientist at Amazon Alexa I worked on structured information extraction from large text collections.
